WERA was established in 1995. Our mission is to represent the interests of residents in the western wards of Elgar and Riversdale in the City of Whitehorse in relation to statutory planning matters and the conservation and enhancement of the natural and built environment across Surrey Hills , Mont Albert , Mont Albert North and Box Hill.

From the earliest times we have had a supportive membership of around 200 families, largely from the Surrey Hills and Mont Albert area. Our members keep in touch with planning issues which affect the western wards through newsletters; annual general meeting and, in election years, a Meet the Candidates where the candidates for Elgar and Riversdale Wards are invited to provide a brief address and local residents have the chance to question them.

WERA was established in 1995 and since that time our activities have covered:

WERA is also a member of other resident groups such as Marvellous Melbourne; Save our Suburbs (SOS) and the Combined Residents of Whitehorse Action Groups (CROWAG).
